Ecommerce website design services

Launch an online store that turns visitors into customers.

A good-looking store isn’t enough. I build your custom ecommerce website on Shopify or WooCommerce, with well-organised collections and a smooth path to purchase, so nothing stands between the product page and the order.

Collections · Product pages · Checkout · Conversion

Where I work

An online store for every kind of brand.

  • Fashion and apparel
  • Food supplements and wellness
  • Sport and leisure
  • Crafts and DIY
  • Makers and small brands
  • B2B and wholesale brands
  • Artisan and food products

Who it’s for

Your store should be selling, not just sitting online.

01

You’re launching your first store

You have products but no site yet. You need clear collections, product pages that make people want to buy and a simple checkout from day one.

02

Visitors come, but they don’t buy

Traffic, abandoned carts, few orders: the problem is often the path to purchase, not the advertising.

03

Your current store is slow or confusing

A catalogue that’s hard to browse, thin product pages, a checkout that’s a struggle on a phone.

04

You want to switch platforms

You’re moving to Shopify from another tool, without losing your search visibility or your products.

Ecommerce websites explained

An online store is more than a catalogue with a cart.

Building the site is half the job. The other half is making sure your customers find the right product, understand the offer and get all the way to payment without friction.

Help people find the right product

Logical collections and clear navigation: your customers reach what they’re looking for quickly.

Build trust

Complete product pages, proof, and delivery and returns information visible before they buy.

Get them all the way to payment

A cart and a checkout without a single needless step, on a phone as well as on a computer.

A store that exists

  • An online catalogue
  • A cart and a payment
  • A pleasant design

A store that converts

  • Collections organised for buying
  • A smooth customer journey, no friction
  • Measurement and tests to keep improving

What I do

Ecommerce website design services: from collection to checkout.

Five pieces of work that follow on from each other. You can hand me all of it, or only the part you’re missing.

01 · Catalogue and collections

Collections organised the way your customers shop.

I start from how your customers choose, not from how your company is organised. I structure the collections, the filters and the menu so every product is only a few clicks away.

  • Collections: grouped by use, by need or by range.
  • Navigation: a menu and filters that guide the choice.
  • Consistency: matching names, visuals and sort orders.
  • SEO: a clean URL and title for every collection.

02 · Product pages and design

Product pages that make people want to buy, and reassure them.

The product page is where the purchase is decided. I build it to answer the questions before they become blockers: what it looks like, what it’s for, how much, delivered when, and what if it doesn’t fit.

  • Visuals and description: clear, complete, useful.
  • Price and buy button visible without hunting for them.
  • Delivery and returns explained before the cart.
  • Reviews and proof to reassure.
  • Mobile first: a page designed for the phone.

03 · Path to purchase

A smooth path to payment, with nothing in the way.

Every extra step loses customers. I review the whole journey, from the collection to the order confirmation, and remove what slows people down: long forms, costs revealed too late, an unclear payment step.

  • Cart: clear, editable, with the total in view.
  • Checkout: as few steps and fields as possible.
  • Payment and delivery: the options your customers expect.
  • Confirmation: a clear message and order tracking.

04 · Measurement, testing and conversion

A store that keeps improving, thanks to data.

Once the store is live, I set up measurement of the journey: where visitors come from, where they leave, what gets bought. I can also test page variants (A/B tests) to lift your conversion rate, as part of ongoing conversion rate optimisation (CRO).

  • Journey tracking: from visit to order.
  • Drop-off analysis: where and why people leave.
  • A/B tests: compare two versions of a page.
  • Ongoing optimisation: prioritised, measured improvements.

05 · Performance analysis

I help you read your store’s numbers.

A store doesn’t stop at launch. I help you analyse its performance: where sales are lost, which products really pay off, and what to improve first. I don’t hand you a dashboard: I work with you to decide.

  • Conversion rate: from visit to order, by device and by source.
  • Average order value: and the levers to raise it.
  • LTV: what a customer is worth over time.
  • Margin: product by product, not just revenue.
  • Acquisition cost: to decide where budget goes.

Your store gets visits, but few orders?

Choosing the platform

Shopify first, WooCommerce when it fits your needs.

Option 1

Shopify

Best if… you want to launch a reliable store quickly, with hosting, payments and security included, then grow it with apps.

Watch out for: a monthly subscription and paid apps that add up.

Option 2

WooCommerce

Best if… you already have a WordPress site, or want a highly customisable store that you host yourself.

Watch out for: hosting, updates and security, which someone has to look after.

Option 3

Migration or redesign

Best if… you already have a store and want to switch platform or start again on better foundations.

Watch out for: keeping your URLs, products and search visibility through the move.

Pricing

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

There’s no single price for ecommerce website design services: it depends on the catalogue, the features and the platform. Here’s what moves the price, and what the market looks like.

What moves the price

  • The number of products and collections
  • The platform: Shopify or WooCommerce
  • A customised theme or a fully custom design
  • Features: payments, delivery, several languages, B2B sales
  • Content: product pages and visuals supplied or to be produced
  • Moving from an old site (migration)
  • Conversion tracking and measurement

Market benchmarks

In France, a complete store on a standard platform, built by a provider, typically costs between €5,000 and €15,000, with a median of €10,000.

Budget for what comes next too: the platform subscription (Shopify) or hosting (WooCommerce), the domain name and payment fees.

Why work with me

Why hire a freelancer for your ecommerce website?

I’m Sophie Monteil, an independent digital marketing consultant based in Toulouse, France. For more than six years I’ve supported online brands, from building the site to acquisition, in both B2B and B2C.

I don’t deliver a store just to deliver it. I start from your sales: where customers drop off, what holds back the purchase, and what has to change for orders to go up.

See my background
01

I think customer journey, not just design

A store is judged by its orders. I build every page to take your customers all the way to payment.

02

I know the acquisition that feeds the store

Ads, SEO, email: I know which traffic lands on which page, and I prepare the site accordingly.

03

A store ready to be measured and optimised

Tracking is in place from launch, so you can test and improve afterwards.

04

One point of contact, a store that stays yours

The person who designs is the person who delivers. The store, the domain and the logins stay your property.

Method

How we work together

Four steps, with your sign-off at each one.

  1. Step 1

    Scope

We clarify your offer, your customers, your catalogue and your sales goals. You leave with the collection structure and a detailed quote.

  2. Step 2

    Structure and design

Collections, product pages and the path to purchase on mock-ups, approved by you before anything is built.

  3. Step 3

    Build and test

The store is built, then test orders are run on mobile and desktop: payment, delivery, SEO.

  4. Step 4

    Launch and optimise

Go-live, a walkthrough, then tracking of the journey and the first improvements.

FAQ

Your questions

How much do ecommerce website design services cost?
It depends on the number of products, the platform and the features. As a benchmark, a complete store typically costs €5,000 to €15,000 in France (median €10,000 according to La Fabrique du Net). I work from a detailed quote, once I understand what you need.
What does your ecommerce quote include?
It spells out the collections, product pages, features, content, timeline and follow-up, so you know exactly what you’re buying.
Shopify or WooCommerce: which should I choose?
Shopify suits you if you want to launch a reliable store quickly, with hosting and security included. WooCommerce suits you if you already have a WordPress site or want a highly customisable store to host yourself. I’ll advise you based on your catalogue, your budget and how hands-on you want to be.
How long does it take to build an online store?
It depends on the number of products, the content to produce and how quickly feedback comes back. For a mid-sized store, allow several weeks. The slowest part is often preparing the product pages and visuals.
Can you migrate my store to Shopify?
Yes. I carry over your products and collections, plan the transfer of your customers depending on your current platform, and set up the redirects needed so you don’t lose your search visibility.
Do you handle ecommerce website redesign?
Yes. We first look at what works and what holds back conversion (collections, product pages, path to purchase), and keep what’s useful.
What is conversion rate optimisation (CRO)?
It’s the methodical improvement of your store so more visitors buy: we measure the journey, spot where visitors leave, then test changes (A/B tests). I offer it as a complement to the build: see my conversion rate optimization page.
Is SEO included?
The foundations are: collection structure, titles, descriptions, speed and structured product data. Ongoing work (content, links, tracking) is SEO support, which I offer separately: see my freelance SEO consultant page.
Will I be able to manage my store myself?
Yes. I show you how to add products, edit collections and follow your orders, and I’m around for bigger changes.
Who owns the store and the domain name?
You do. The domain name is registered in your name and you have all the logins. You can remove my access at any time.
Do you build multilingual or B2B stores?
Yes, depending on the platform. A multilingual store needs native copy and a structure built for SEO; a B2B store needs suitable prices and access rules. I plan it from the design stage.
How is this different from your ecommerce growth offer?
Ecommerce website design covers the store itself. The ecommerce growth offer connects all your levers (ads, SEO, email, tracking) to grow your sales: see my ecommerce growth consultant page.
